2018 business goals
Sometimes you get to a point where you realise you need a plan, making lists has always been a forte of mine but a firm plan has always been a bit scary. A firm plan means commitment and if things go awry it might mean having to admit failure, which is definitely not a strength for me! So I am putting some goals on here for everyone I see, hopefully this means I will stick to them!! At the same time I’ll try to bear this in mind...
Anyway, before I get carried away with inspirational quotes here are my goals;
1. Design and launch a cohesive collection, I am often too impatient to wait until i have a whole collection together before launching it, I get excited and want to share so as soon as a piece is ready I list it! As you may have seen with the Orion collection - it’s kind of in progress so I’ve been adding to it as I think of designs! This also effects the photography of pieces which leads me in to my next goal...
2. Improve my product photography, so people can look at a photo and know it’s by me - ‘on brand’ I guess. I’m working toward this by purchasing a macro extension tube for my current camera and lens set-up in the hope this will help me get nice detailed close ups of each piece. Another way I think I could improve my photography is through using a better photo editor like Photoshop - I’ve put it off long enough but I think to get my whites consistent I need to start using something more than Iphone apps.
3. Expand into retail - just selling on here limits who sees my jewellery. Finding some stockists would increase my exposure so I would love to get into some shops. If you know of any you think would be a good fit for my work I would love to hear about them - whether they are brick and mortar shops or online.
4. Learn Learn Learn! I have been keeping an eye on different avenues through which I can expand my skill set such as goldsmiths courses, small business courses, coaching... the list goes on! The first investment I have made this year is going to Blogtacular, this is a conference for creatives for networking, learning and getting inspired, I am hoping to get to meet lots of like-minded creatives and get inspired!
So that's it, my four goals for 2018 (in March, already a quarter of the way through the year!). Thank you for taking the time to read my goals and I guess this will make you, my readers, my accountability partners! Did you set yourself any goals for the year? Let me know what they are and maybe we could check back in with each other about how those goals are going later in the year. But for now I guess I better get my hustle on!
