In November 2018 I gave birth to my first son Iver after the most wonderful pregnancy, during labour everything that could possibly have gone wrong did and 24 hours after my baby came into this world it was time for him to leave again. This is what lead to me starting my fundraising for Tommys Charity and I have created Iver’s page as a way to see the progress of the fundraising that is coming from the La Lune collection in Iver’s memory. At the end of each month when I do my business accounts I add the months donations from the sales of each piece from the La Lune collection. Lots of lovely people have decided to donate to the page themselves as well so thank you to each and every one of you that is helping me on this fundraising journey in Iver’s memory. Of course if pieces from the La Lune collection aren’t for you and you aren’t in a position to donate you can still help tremendously by sharing the La Lune collection and Iver’s story via social media, word of mouth or in any other way you can think of, I can’t express how much every bit of help means to me, Wil and would have to Iver.

About the Charity Tommy’s Charity have set out to make the UK the safest place in the world to give birth, they use donations to fund research into miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death and to set up resources to support parents throughout pregnancy and following pregnancy. In the UK 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss with the odds being even poorer for black and ethnic minority groups and in this day and age that number is just too high. Tommy’s also provides sound pregnancy information, support to those who have lost a baby and launched the brilliant ‘Tell Me Why’ campaign. Even if you haven’t experienced this debilitating kind of loss the chances are you know (or will one day know) someone who has experienced it, don’t be the person who doesn’t know how to support someone in a time of need, I highly recommend checking Tommy’s out for more information.

The La Lune collection, like all Kate Wainwright pieces are handmade in the UK from recycled silver using ethical and sustainable production. The La Lune collection features recycled silver crescent moons delicately orbiting tiny ethically sourced Labradorite gemstones. The concept for these designs is based around my everlong fascination with light and dark and after many sleepless nights after losing Iver the use of crescent moons was a natural choice. These serve as reminders of the glimmers of light that can be found in our darkest moments and knowing that even when those trickles of light are obscured by clouds, they are still there waiting to shine for us again.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read Iver’s story and help us keep his memory alive.

You can shop the La Lune collection in Kate’s online shop.
