Ten years ago today I lost a very special lady to me following a long battle with breast cancer. My Mum initially found this a pea-size lump which her GP sent her away from his office with just some reassurance that it was nothing to worry about, a cyst probably. Fast forward a few months and the pea sized lump was now a strawberry-sized lump, upon returning to the GP and having further investigations we found she had breast cancer with lymph node involvement. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy gave her a few more years before it was back, but this time it had metastasised to the brain. Fast forward through more chemotherapy, radiation and a lot of heartache and the beautiful strong woman that was my Mum left this world and huge gaps in the many hearts of the people that loved her.
With advances in medicine we see more and more happy endings for people who are affected by breast cancer but the rates of people who lose their lives to this are still to high, the struggles them and their families face are still all too real. The Pink Ribbon Foundation does an amazing job of fundraising and directing the funds they raise to a variety of breast cancer charities when they need it the most. To commemorate what an inspirational and brave soul my Mum was and for two other very important women in my life who have also fought this battle but won I am opening the doors of my online store early for this short run of Butterfly Pins. 100% of the profits from these will be donated to The Pink Ribbon Foundation.
Butterflies live desperately short lives but full of purpose as they flutter from flower to flower, making the Butterfly a perfect symbol for remembering those we have lost or who have been through this struggle. These Butterfly Lapel Pins are handcrafted entirely from Silver, each one finished to the highest quality. Only 25 pins of this design will be available, each one hand-stamped with their own unique number. Once made, each will be beautifully gift-wrapped and ready to be worn with pride by their new owner.
These are available to purchase now in my online store HERE! If a lapel pin isn't for you, perhaps you could help me support this amazing cause by sharing to friends via social media or even word of mouth! I would love to hear what you think!
