Back in Spring I launched Phase II of La Lune collection, a collection of recycled silver pieces featuring a crescent moon and beautiful labradorite gemstones. This collection is inspired by a cause very close to my heart with proceeds from each item sold going to Tommy’s the Baby Charity. Four months on I am so thrilled to say that the demand for these pieces has been overwhelming, helping raise a phenomenal amount so far for Tommy's. One of the reasons I wanted to share an update with you was so I could say thank you for your support and thank you to the individuals who have donated directly to Iver’s Justgiving page. I try to thank everyone personally so to those who have donated anonymously, I send you so much love. You can keep track of my fundraising journey by clicking in ‘Iver’s Story’ at the top of this page.
My pregnancy with Iver, my first son was plain sailing. A happy healthy pregnancy that I smugly enjoyed every moment of. I felt at home in my body for the first time and felt so empowered by how naturally I was able to grow my little passenger as I called him. My husband and I decided to opt for a home birth as my pregnancy had been so textbook, I didn’t want to medicalise what at the time felt like the most natural thing in the world. So when I went into labour and after a dog walk through early contractions and some time progressing at home I found meconium I was beyond surprised. From years working as a neonatal nurse I knew meconium was a sign something wasn’t right, so we rushed into the hospital which is just up the road from our home. From there it went downhill and everything that could have gone wrong did. 24 hours later we were saying the hardest goodbye you could possibly imagine. This is why my fundraising journey will be ongoing because the need to fund research around baby loss is ongoing, with 1 in 4 pregnancies in the UK ending in loss and with the odds being even worse for Black Indiginous and ethnic minorities, which I find hard to accept in 2020.

I hope everyone is staying cool in this heat!
